constantly redownlads

this game, like most purchases on this app store does not work on my macbook pro retina. it wwill download, you will play it once and then it starts over downloading again. this app store should be an embarrasment to apple, very few things work, downloading is normally a waste of time and space.

Expected more

The flying and space combat in this game is mediocre. And while there are side missions to do, the game ended very quikcly. I felt like I was just getting started and the story ended. The game feels like it belongs in the 90s.

MiniMac Rocking IT :)-

So my mini mac runs this app fine, no issues here !!! keep making great appz ! ! ! ! ! !

Disappointment

I bought this game and could never fully load it. I consulted the forums but could never find a solution. I did post my problem and a moderator said they would contact me to help me out they never did. I sent an email to there support and it took 2 1/2 - 3 weeks to hear back from them. They told me to try things I had already tried and to contacted Apple for a refund which I did. So my review is not really for the game but for customer service which is subpar at best.

Loads of fun!

If youve ever played Freelancer, this game is pretty much a step up from that. Good graphics, simple controls, tons of variations and choices to make. Occasionally a touch buggy, but I just keep playing it. Almost ready for the add-in adventures.

Not compatible with my version of OS X?

Im running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and whenever I try to start the app I get a "Galaxy on Fire 2 Full HD cannot be opened because of a problem, Check with the developer to make sure Galaxy on Fire 2 Full HD works with this version of OS X" error. I just installed the new update, pretty sure it worked prior to the update.

Incredibly buggy: unplayable w/ OSX 10.8.2 iMac 27" i7

Id love to try and love this game, but since the keyboard is nonfunctional and the mouse works intermittently, its just $9.99 worth of frustration and regret.

Best Game Ever

To say the least, this is a work of art. Its fun, open ended, enthralling. Despite a history of bugs, the geniuses behind the Abyss Engine are always willing and waiting to fix them, and so far, the game has worked fantastically for me. In addition, if I might add, I am currently taking an Astrobiology course at my University, and I can vouch for many aspects of this game. In my opinion, it holds the best vision of the future I have ever known. If I could sum it all up in a sentence, then "This Game is Stellar".

It Does not work!!!!!!!

I have an old computer which meets the minimal requirements and it sayts the same thing that mountain lion says when u run it. I feel cheated that I spent 10 dollars that I saved up for and bought a game that I like and it doesnt run even though it should. you really need to fix these bugs otherwise u will lose a lot of customers.

Not working with mountain lion

This is an awesome game and have played it before, but for some reason it doesnt work with mountain lion. I got the update today and tried to play but it didnt work.

Meh...

Not worth the money, but a bit fun/addictive starting out. PROS: - The graphics are pretty sweet if you chipped in for the HD version. - The ships are wicked cool and the ability to customize your ships weaponry/payload is a plus. - There are tons of side missions outside of the main story - Controls are easy to master CONS: - The main story is way too short (can be beaten in an hour and a half) - Most of the missions take 10 minutes travelling time for 30 seconds of actual mission - As you level up, the enemy fighters become very easy to take down - The missions pay little, but addons and upgrades cost a fortune (youll end up putting more money into this, I promise) - Missions are very repetitive - Voice actors arent very convincing and the plots are cliché - Once youve beaten the main storyline missions, there isnt much else to do but repetitive "farming" missions that are a complete waste of time. I think this game shows a lot of promise and could really be better. I understand that ten bucks isnt a lot of money to some people, but when youre in the App Store, people can easily find a better place to spend that money. MY SUGGESTIONS: - Longer story without suckering the end-user into paying more for expansions - Better side missions with more activity and better payout, based on level or experience of the system/character - Enemies level up with character - Shorter travelling times or some sort of mission interactions along the journey - Co-op or Multiplayer ability for spacial dogfighting/mission partnering - Reduce price of the game to five dollars until improvements are made This is just my 2 cents worth. Hope this helps.

Great game!

Do not hesitate to buy this game! It looks fantastic and has a decent amount of gameplay time. Runs great on best resolution on my MacBook Pro.

Slow action…misleading slides!

Very slow action, it takes time to get used to it!

Great with the two add-ons

If you only want to spend $10 on this game, youll be wasting your money. The first campaign is really short, and very cliché. However, If you just go ahead and buy the two add-ons for the extra $20, its definitely worth it. The add-ons seem to be actually larger than the original, and they offer lots of variety. Great game, I wish there were more like it.

A little slow at first.

Look guys, the game is HUGE! I got this for $20 as my first real app and have NEVER regeted it. Really guys! How many console games with this type of quality can you find for $10??? You cant, unless theyre outdated. The graphics are insane! Acting, eh, yeah it could be better, but really, does acting really make a game bad? Yeah side missions are repetitive and yes you DO get paid more the higher level you are. My brother is the max level (20) and he gets on average $200,000 each mission. (Harder ones and missions the require more travel across the galaxy give more cash) Rate the game seperate from the add-ons please. Just wish they said where to buy the 3 new ships.

NOT WORKING

NOT WORKING WITH MAC BOOK PRO 2012. GAME WILL NOT OPEN. OS X 10.8.3 PLEASE UP DATE

Immerse and Amazing

This game is truly amazing. I started playing the original (very 1st) Galaxy on Fire on my iPod way way back. Couple of years later after that I got an iPad and purchased GOF2. Now, present day, Im playing it on my Mac. The storyline and action is truly amazing and well thought. They make the game very realistic. You will not find another space game close to this. Fishlabs has done an outstanding job on Galaxy on Fire Full HD. My configuration is listed below for anyones consolation. -15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display -2.3 GHz Intel Quad Core i7 -8GB RAM (1600 MHz DDR3) -NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M (1GB) -OS X Version 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) The startup is a little slow, but I really have no complaints as the minor wait is acceptable for my configuration. My suggestion for Fishlabs would be to utilize the iPod/iPad/iPhone to control the game considering the fact there are almost no game pad controllers out there that are truly built for a Mac without having to hack/download all kinds of junk to your Mac. I remember EA doing something similar on the iPad where there would be the game and then an app on an iPod/iPhone that could control the game on the other device. Perhaps you could do something similar, because it would surely help, or maybe you could make your own game pads. I would also like to suggest better Retina Dispay support on the MacBook Pro. The graphics are fine, but theres somewhat visible pixelation on the edges of the graphics. All else aside: job well done, well worth the money, and fully compatible with my configuration (no bugs or glitches).

great game

i loved the game and its story line but wish the supernova and valkyrie add ons were cheeper

Waste of Money

This is a horrible game. My Macbook Pro with Retina Display runs it very well but I dont see the good graphics as it is advertised. Also this is a very childish game and it is for those who are 12 & under. The controls are not good either, makes you feel very unconfortable. As I said, the gaming graphics are OKAY, and the story and other (such as conversations, headquarter scene, etc.) are very horrible. I do NOT reccomend this game to anyone unless you are buying it for your kids who are 12 & under.

Awesome!

I dont play many games, but this one is pretty good. The graphics are impressive and the story line is good, though one nice thing is that youre not obligated to follow that story line all the time. I find that I sort of get lost in the game and then realize that Ive been at it for way longer than I had originally intended. The icon bounces in my dock for about two minutes before the program opens, possibly because the game is a lot for my computer to handle. At first I thought that it wasnt working but it just takes time to open. My only complaint is that it isnt a very intuitive game. Id like to think that Im reasonably intelligent but whenever I encountered something new in the game like a new piece of equipment or a new setting, I had to get out of the program and google how to use it. Itd be nice if there were a few more explanations at the beginning so that I didnt have to do that. Now that Ive gotten past the very first parts of the game, it hasnt been a problem.
